![]() ![]() All of Dragon Ball Super takes place during that 10 year gap, so none of that stuff after the 10 years has happened yet. 6 months after buus defeat, memory of buu is erased and 9 years and 6 months later is when the tournament happens. However, I just started Super, and I was shocked to see that Goten was a kid again. Goku takes Uub to his village to train with him so that he can fight him later. That means everyone in the story (including Goten) has aged since then. Also, are those events part of the DBZ manga?ĭB Super's anime and manga are both based on the original manga, not the anime (Kai or otherwise).ĭragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters ends with a martial arts tournament ten years (and six months) after Goku destroys Kid Buu. ![]() So then, are the episodes in Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters AND Dragon Ball Z that are set ten years or so after Buu's defeat not considered canon, and instead considered part of GT? Is this addressed somehow in Super? Are we just supposed to ignore the events detailed in these episodes? If so, why do they appear in both Z and Kai? I've heard that Kai has every canonical "event" that was in Z without much filler, and that it's closer to the manga, but I could absolutely be wrong. This perfectly sets up the transition into GT (I peeked at the first episode, and saw that Goku and Uub were training at the lookout), but does not make for a good transition into Super. I plan to go back and watch Dragon Ball Z sometime after I finish Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT.ĭragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters ends with a martial arts tournament ten years (and six months) after Goku destroys Kid Buu. ![]() I watched all of Dragon Ball and wanted to watch all of the "main" story of Dragon Ball Z, so I watched Kai. ![]()
